PNG and PDF are different kinds of file

A PNG is a single picture measured in pixels. A PDF is a document with pages measured in millimetres or inches, which can hold images, text and many pages.

The PDF contains your images, not selectable text: no OCR is applied. Checked September 2026.

Lossless inside the PDF

PNG pixels are stored with lossless compression in the PDF, so sharp text in screenshots stays sharp.

A physical size, finally

A PNG has no real print size. A PDF page does, so printers and viewers show it at a predictable scale.

Text is not searchable

Words inside a screenshot are still pixels. The PDF can be read and printed, but not searched or copied from.

Choosing the page size

The converter offers three layouts. The right one depends on whether the PDF will be read on screen or printed.

Image size

Each page matches its image exactly, with no margins. Best for screenshots shared on screen, where white borders only get in the way.

A4

The standard paper size in France, Europe and most of the world (210 × 297 mm). The image is fitted inside the page with margins.

US Letter

The standard in the United States and Canada (8.5 × 11 in). Pick it if the PDF will be printed there.

When a PDF is the format they ask for

Many places accept documents rather than images. Converting PNG to PDF answers that requirement without extra software.

Requirements vary by organisation; check each portal’s accepted formats and size limit. Checked September 2026.

Page order

Pages follow the order in which you add the images. Remove and re-add a file to move it.

Size limits

Screenshots in PNG are compact, but many high-resolution images add up. Resize big images first if a portal caps the upload.

Transparent PNGs

Logos with transparency are placed on a white page, which is exactly how they look when printed.

PNG to PDF: questions

How do I convert several PNG files into one PDF?

Add all the images, choose the page size and download. They are combined into a single PDF with one image per page, in the order you added them.

Does PNG to PDF conversion reduce image quality?

No. PNG images are embedded losslessly, so text and edges look exactly as in the original. Fitting to A4 or Letter only scales the display on the page.

Can I search or copy text in the PDF made from a PNG?

No. The page holds a picture of the text, not real text. You would need OCR software to make it searchable.

Which page size should I choose for printing?

A4 for France and most countries, US Letter for the United States and Canada. Both add margins so nothing is cut off by the printer.

Is my PNG sent to a server to make the PDF?

No. The PDF is assembled in your browser, so the images stay on your device. You only need a free account to download.
