The transparent-graphic problem
Web logos, product cut-outs and stickers are often transparent WebPs. Many editors and office apps want PNG, and converting to JPG would put them on a white box.
PNG keeps the alpha channel
Every semi-transparent edge pixel is kept, so anti-aliased logos still sit cleanly on dark or coloured backgrounds.
Lossless from here on
The PNG freezes the decoded WebP exactly. Editing and re-saving it adds no further loss.

Slides, docs, Canva, Figma and older Photoshop versions accept transparent PNG without plug-ins.

Lossy WebP stays lossy
If the source was lossy WebP, the artefacts are already baked in. PNG preserves them exactly; it can't remove them.
Expect a bigger file
PNG gives up WebP's compression advantage in exchange for compatibility.
When to choose PNG over JPG for a WebP
Look at the image first: does it have a transparent background or sharp flat colours?
Transparent or flat artwork → PNG
Logos, icons, UI screenshots, stickers and diagrams keep crisp edges and transparency.
Photographs → JPG
A photo with no transparency becomes a large PNG for no visible gain. Use WebP to JPG instead.
Animated WebP → keep it
Only the first frame is converted to PNG. Keep the original if the motion matters.

PNG is safe everywhere, including old software. WebP support depends on the app and version.

WebP to PNG: questions
Does WebP to PNG keep a transparent background?
Yes. PNG supports full alpha, so transparent and semi-transparent pixels are kept exactly as they were in the WebP.
Why is the PNG larger than the WebP?
PNG is lossless and less efficient than WebP's compression. The larger file is the trade-off for opening in every app.
Will converting improve a blurry WebP?
No. The PNG stores the WebP exactly as decoded, including any compression artefacts. It stops further loss but can't add detail.
How do I convert a WebP sticker to PNG for WhatsApp or Telegram?
Drop the sticker here; the first frame is saved as a transparent PNG. Animated stickers lose their motion.
Is it safe to convert client logos here?
