A watermark is a trade-off between protection and how much it distracts from the photo. Pick the style by how the image will be used.

Credit, not protection

A small corner name tells people who took the photo when it gets reshared. It is easy to crop, so treat it as a signature rather than a lock.

Proofs and previews

Wedding and product shoots are often sent for selection before payment. A centred or tiled mark at 25–35% opacity keeps the image viewable but unusable.

Brand consistency

Use the same logo, size and corner on every post. Batch mode applies identical settings to a whole shoot in one go.

Where to place a watermark so it's hard to remove

Automatic removal tools and a quick crop defeat most corner marks. Placement matters more than size.

Overlap the subject

A mark over plain sky or a studio wall is easy to paint out. Let it cross an edge of the subject — hair, a product outline — where rebuilding pixels is hard.

Tile it for high-value images

A tiled, rotated pattern leaves no clean region to crop to. The brick offset between rows avoids straight stripes that are easy to mask.

Keep a clean original

Watermark copies, never your only file. Everything here runs in the browser, so your originals are never modified or uploaded.

Watermark size and opacity by destination

Size is set as a share of the photo width, so the same settings scale correctly from a phone photo to a 45-megapixel frame.

Portfolios

Keep it light: a small signature in a corner at around half opacity. Visitors are there to judge the photo.

Social media

Feeds are viewed small, so a mark under 20% of the width becomes unreadable. Add the soft shadow on busy photos.

Shops and marketplaces

Some marketplaces restrict watermarks on the main listing photo — check their image rules. A subtle logo on secondary photos is usually fine.

How do I add a watermark to many photos at once?

Drop up to 30 photos into the tool. Your text or logo, position and opacity apply to all of them, and the download is one ZIP with each file named after the original.

Can I use my logo as a watermark?

Yes — choose Logo and pick a PNG. A transparent background gives the cleanest result; the logo keeps its proportions and is sized as a share of each photo's width.

What opacity should a watermark have?

Around 40–60% for a visible credit, 20–35% for tiled proof marks. Lower than 15% tends to vanish on bright photos.

Will the watermark look the same on portrait and landscape photos?

Size and margins are relative to each photo's width, so a batch of mixed orientations gets a proportionally identical mark. Check one of each with the numbered preview buttons.

Can a watermark be removed?

A small corner mark can be cropped out or erased by AI tools. Tiled marks that cross the subject are much harder to remove cleanly, which is why proofs use them.

Are my photos uploaded when I add a watermark?

No. The photos and your logo stay in the browser tab; the watermarked copies are generated on your device and saved straight to your downloads.
